Man who passed counterfeit bill pleads no contest

MARQUETTE — A Marquette man who passed a counterfeit bill earlier this year entered a plea agreement in Marquette County Circuit Court Friday morning.

21–year–old Willie Sims pleaded no contest to uttering and publishing a counterfeit bill or note. That charge is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $2,500 fine. Sims was arrested after an incident in January in which he passed a counterfeit $20 bill to a Jimmy Johns delivery person.

He will be sentenced on September 18th.
