Man headed to prison for assaulting his girlfriend

MARQUETTE — A Wilson man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to an assault charge in October.

Errol Martin Sagataw, 60, of Wilson, will spend one year in prison for assault resulting in serious bodily injury. On February 16, 2015, Sagataw assaulted his girlfriend at his home on the Hannahville Indian Reservation.

Police say Sagataw repeatedly punched his girlfriend after she refused his sexual advances. The woman ended up with extensive bruising and a fractured nose.

The Hannahville Indian Community Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted in the case against Sagataw.
