Man found guilty of multiple felony drug counts

SAULT STE. MARIE — A Sault Ste. Marie man was found guilty on multiple felony counts in Chippewa County Circuit Court after a two day trial.

Mark Nolan II, 33, was found guilty of possession with intent to deliver heroin, smuggling methadone into a correctional facility, maintaining a drug house, and possession of methadone. The maximum punishment for these counts range from two years to twenty years in prison.

Nolan was on parole at the time of his arrest and will be facing a 4th habitual offender status during his sentencing. The investigation resulting in Nolan’s arrest was concluded by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office just prior to the official start of Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office says that it is doing everything it can to get heroin dealers off the street. It is suspected that the supply of heroin was coming up from Lower Michigan to be distributed in the Chippewa County community.
