MARQUETTE — A West Branch Township man facing charges related to child abuse has finally received his sentence nearly a year after his arrest.

Twenty-eight year old Nicholas Racine was sentenced 12 to 30 years in prison in Marquette Circuit Court.

Racine was arrested last June after an investigation into sever injuries of a three-month old infant. He pleaded no contest to one count of first-degree child abuse at the end of November, but attempted to withdraw his plea the next day.

After an evidentiary hearing was conducted in March, Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Mazzuchi ruled against him and let the no contest plea stand.

Racine was given credit for 312 days served.
