Man pleads not guilty to intentional homicide charges

MARINETTE COUNTY, WIS. — A Wisconsin man accused trying to hire a hitman to kill his son and daughter-in-law over a property dispute, has pleaded not guilty to those charges.

At his arraignment Monday,Robert Dettmering, 74, pleaded not guilty and not guilty by mental disease/defect to two counts of first-degree intentional homicide. He will undergo a pair of competency exams to see if he is fit to stand trial.

Dettmering was arrested on August 3rd by an undercover police officer. Dettmering gave the officer one thousand dollars as a down payment to kill his son and daughter-in-law.

He’s due back in court on January 20th.
