BESSEMER — An Ironwood man is in jail on drug charges following an investigation into the distribution of controlled substances by the Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team.
Ironwood Public Safety says 20-year-old Mykahl Kirby is facing charges of delivery of less than fifty grams of fentanyl as well as possession of that drug within 1,000 feet of a school. Kirby is lodged in the Gogebic County Jail on a ten percent of $750,000 bond.
Police say fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opiate painkiller that is only given to people already taking opiates for pain. Abuse of this drug can very likely result in death.
Police say additional charges may be issued pending further investigation. Kirby is scheduled for a preliminary exam in Gogebic County District Court on March 23rd.
