Man involved in huge Escanaba drug bust receives sentence

ESCANABA — An Escanaba man involved in a huge Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team bust earlier this year has received a sentence in Delta County Circuit Court.

Mitchel Melin, 28, received a sentence of 70 days in jail with credit for 70 days served. He was released this morning. He’ll also be required to pay $698 in fines and costs.

Melin was arrested in March as part of an U.P.S.E.T. drug bust involving 17 people total. Each was charged with Delivery/Manufacture of a Controlled Substance-Buprenorphine.
