Man Injured in Mqt. Twp. Car Crash

A Marquette man is recovering tonight after a car accident in Marquette Township.

It happened at the intersection of Ontario and Center Streets at about 6 pm tonight.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post say a 19–year–old Marquette woman was driving west on Center Street.

She stopped at the stop sign at Ontario Street, and when she looked, she didn’t see any other vehicles.

But there was one heading south on Ontario; a 62–year–old Marquette man was driving it.

When the young woman pulled out from the stop sign, his vehicle hit hers on the passenger’s side.

She wasn’t hurt, but the man was taken to Marquette General for treatment of neck pain.

Police gave the young woman a ticket for failure to yield.

There’s no word if speed was a factor in the crash, but police say alcohol use was not a factor.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and neither of them had any passengers.
