The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office says the 18-year-old man from Winnetka, Illinois had fallen from cliffs into rough terrain approximately 1/8 mile off Cliff Drive in Allouez Township.  Emergency responders extricated the man by securing him in a basket with a back board and rappelling him down the steep grade.

The man was transported to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and was later transferred to Marquette General Hospital.  His condition is unknown at this time.

Allouez Township Fire Department and First Responders, Ahmeek Fire and Rescue, Calumet Township Fire Department and Rappel Team, and Mercy Ambulance assisted in the incident.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to use caution when visiting the cliffs.
