More information has been made available in the case of a man who fell from a cliff in Marquette Friday evening.

Marquette City Police identify the man as 18-year-old Maxwell Hardy of Kewaskum, Wisconsin. Police say he had fallen off a cliff in the area of Pirate’s Cove around 8:30 p.m. while attempting to climb down the cliff to the water. He was accompanied by a group of friends at the time of the incident. They came to his aid and pulled him from the water.

Hardy was transported to UP Health System – Marquette where he is listed in critical condition.


MARQUETTE — A man was injured Friday night when he fell off of a cliff.

Just after 8 p.m., the Marquette City Fire Department responded to an incident at Presque Isle Park. A 20-year-old man fell approximately 20-feet near Black Rocks and into the rocks below. A bystander pulled the man from the water.

A Stokes basket was used by the fire department to lift the man to safety. He was taken U.P. Health System – Marquette. His injuries/condition is not known at this time.

The U.S. Coast Guard also assisted at the scene.
