Man arrested for stealing dog

MARQUETTE — A man is in jail after allegedly stealing a dog in the City of Marquette.

Marquette City Police say 21-year old Willie Joshua Ray Sims was arrested on an outstanding warrant after being developed as a person of interest in a breaking and entering incident on Wednesday. Sims allegedly broke into a residence on the 500 block of West Ridge Street and pilfered the pooch.

Officers were aware of a valid arrest warrant for Sims on an unrelated charge and they made contact with him at his Marquette home. Sims was taken into custody and the stolen dog was located inside the home.

Sims is lodged at the Marquette County Jail pending arraignment. Police say charges of home invasion will be submitted to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office.
