Man arrested for burglary at local University

The man accused of a burglary incident in Hancock was arraigned in 97th District Court this morning.

Twenty seven year-old Benjamin Reilly was arraigned on seven felony counts in connection with the burglary at Finlandia University and with the death of an infant.

HANCOCK — One man is in jail after an alleged burglary at Finlandia University that happened in late October.

Officers from the Hancock Police Department say they were dispatched to a burglary complaint at Finlandia around 9:15 a.m. on October 21st. They were unable to find any signs of forced entry at that time. During their investigation, police identified the Hancock man as a suspect in the case. The execution of a search warrant also recovered several items taken from the University.

The suspect was located and arrested on felony charges, including breaking and entering and receiving and concealing stolen property. He is currently housed in the Houghton County Jail awaiting arraignment.
