Man arrested for alleged counterfeit bill incident

MARQUETTE — A Marquette man has been arrested in connection to a counterfeiting incident in January.

Marquette Police say 21-year-old Willie Joshua Ray Sims was arrested Wednesday for uttering and publishing counterfeit bills or notes. He was reported to have passed a counterfeit $20.00 as he paid for food from a local restaurant on January 12th. The uttering and publishing charge is a felony which carries a penalty of five years imprisonment or a $2,500 fine.

Sims’s bond of 10 percent of $10,000 was posted. He was arraigned in 96th District Court. A preliminary hearing has been set for July 7th.
