Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a high speed chase early Thursday morning that landed a man in jail in Baraga County.

The Baraga Police Department says the chase started in Baraga.  The suspect was  driving over 90 miles per hour in town as the suspect drove towards the Baraga Plains.

A Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police Officer was injured and was treated at the hospital for unknown injuries.  Police also say patrol cars were damaged by the suspect’s vehicle during the chase.

The name of the suspect is being withheld until his arraignment.

The incident is still under investigation.

The Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police, L’Anse Police Department and the Baraga County Sheriff’s Department assisted in incident.
