MANISTIQUE — A Manistique man is in jail after a marijuana investigation by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.
UPSET detectives say 37-year-old Jason Gregurash was arrested after delivering over fifteen pounds of marijuana destined for Wisconsin. A search of Gregurash’s home revealed an additional five pounds of packaged marijuana and 72 marijuana plants. Gregurash was arraigned in Schoolcraft County District Court on a charge of delivery of more than five but less than 45 kilograms of marijuana.
The arrest came after detectives from UPSET received credible information from Wisconsin law enforcement agencies describing an elaborate operation in which large quantities of marijuana were being sold and transported to conspirators in Wisconsin. Detectives say the twenty pounds of marijuana seized in this case hold a street value of about $70,000 in Wisconsin.
Gregurash is scheduled to appear for a preliminary exam in District Court on February 8th. Additional arrests are expected, and the investigation remains ongoing.
UPSET was assisted by members of the Michigan State Police Hometown Security Team.
