Man arrested after fleeing from police

IRON MOUNTAIN — A Marquette man is in jail tonight after police say he ran away from a traffic stop early Friday morning.

Police say 33–year–old Michael Marquardt of Marquette was pulled over in Iron Mountain just after 1 a.m. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post placed Marquardt under arrest for operating under the influence of drugs.

Marquardt resisted arrest and he fled the scene on foot. Marquardt was eventually taken into custody.

In Dickinson County Circuit Court Friday afternoon, Marquardt faces six different charges, including ‘Police Officer Assaulting, Resisting and Obstruction Causing Injury.’
