FORSYTH TOWNSHIP — A man was arrested yesterday after police say he allegedly strangled his girlfriend.

Steven Devalle, 42, was arrested in Delta County shortly after the authorization of a warrant out of Marquette County.

Devalle was taken into custody after he crashed his car in a wooded area on south US-41 and Perkins 30.5 Road.

The subject was wanted for the alleged assault by strangulation of his girlfriend that occurred Tuesday morning around 3:30 a.m. in Forsyth Township. He prevented her from calling 911 and fled after she managed to make an emergency call.

Devalle was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Marquette County.

He is currently lodged at the Marquette County Jail awaiting arraignment.
