Man Accused of Manistique City Employee Threats

A Manistique man accused of blackmailing and threatening city employees will be back in court on May 6th.

That’s when 64-year-old Peter Markham’s pre-trial conference is.

He’s waived his right to have a Circuit Court arraignment.

Police arrested Markham in February on 7 counts of extortion, 1 count of false report or threat of terrorism and 2 counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

At that time, Manistique Public Safety said they’d been investigating this with the FBI for about a year.

They accuse Markham of making specific threats to the city manager, the mayor and other city council members, with some of them being in fear for their lives.

Police have said the threats were both verbal and in comments posted on Markham’s website.
