Man accidentally shoots self in hand, kills dog
IRON MOUNTAIN — A 25-year-old Iron Mountain man is in the hospital after accidentally shooting himself Saturday night.
The Iron Mountain Police Department responded to a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. at a residence in the 800 block of East B Street in Iron Mountain.
Police say that the man had unintentionally shot himself in the hand. The bullet, which passed through his hand, hit and killed the family dog. The man was taken to Dickinson County Hospital for treatment on non-life threatening injuries.
Police say they observed evidence of unrelated criminal activity while on scene.
The incident is still under investigation and a report is being forwarded to the Dickinson County Prosecutor.
