Mail Room Scare at Governor’s Office

A scare today in Lansing.

An employee in Governor Rick Snyder’s official mail room was injured this afternoon.

The employee opened an envelope addressed to the governor and an unknown granular substance leaked out.

The employee immediately notified the office, which shut down and evacuated the mail room.

When the substance made contact with the worker’s hands, it began to cause discomfort.

The governor’s deputy press secretary said the pain subsided when the employee washed his hands.

The mail room is on the first floor of the Romney Building in Lansing, and the governor’s office is two floors up.
