Mackinac County Drownings
2 people are dead in Mackinac County after a weekend drowning on Lake Michigan.
State Police from the St. Ignace Post say it happened Saturday afternoon in Moran Township.
16-year-old Ethan Mroz of Gaylord was overcome by large waves by standing in the lake.
His grandfather, 66-year-old Patrick Dipzinski, tried to save him.
But the large waves pulled him under as well.
They were both pulled from the lake and taken to Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace, where they were pronounced dead.
