HOUGHTON — Former Houghton City Manager Scott MacInnes is taking on a new job that will keep him in the Upper Peninsula.

He will now be working for the Michigan Municipal League as the Northern Field consultant.  The role will have MacInnes assist municipalities in the U.P. and act as a liaison for the league.

He said many experiences he’s had with the city can be used for his new role.

“Whether it’s seeking grants, working with master plans, if they any financial issues, the Michigan Municipal League offers a whole host of services and things for communities and I hope with my experience with the city that I can add something to that,” MacInnes said.

MacInnes officially retired as Houghton’s City Manager back in September, which was his 40th anniversary of working for the city.

He will take over for Caroline Kennedy, who left to serve as executive officer for the Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area.
