M-95 gets a makeover starting next week
REPUBLIC — Warm weather is back, and with it comes construction season. Starting next week, commuters heading along M–95 can expect some delays as MDOT puts a new face on the road.
Resurfacing of the road between County Road LLL and the Republic–Humboldt Township line will cost around $597,000. Crack sealing, chip–seal application, and additional asphalt will be added to the stretch to help extend the road surface’s life for another five to seven years.
“We have a program every year in which we do preventative maintenance fixes on a lot of our roadways,” said MDOT Construction Engineer Al Anderson, “and it’s on roads that we can place a cheaper fix on them and still get a good life extension to the road out of them.”
Single lane closures will be the norm as the work is being done. Flag crews will be out to guide traffic, and Anderson says drivers can expect standard delay times of about ten minutes.
The project is set to be complete by mid–July. Both M–26 and M–28 are getting similar preventative treatments this season as well.
