M-553 Glasses Curve Accident

A common trouble spot for drivers in Marquette County is the scene of a rollover accident.

The Sheriff’s Department says it happened at the Glasses Curve on M–553, just south of Marquette Mountain, shortly after 1:30 this afternoon.

A Pontiac Grand Am that was heading north lost control and flipped over.

Two people were taken to Marquette General.

There’s no word tonight on how they’re doing.

Speed and icy conditions are believed to be factors.

Last Saturday, two women from Norway died in a wreck at the Glasses Curve.

And a head–on crash on M–94 in Au Train Township sends 5 people to the hospital.

That one happened shortly before 1pm about a half-mile east of Alger County Road H–03.

A 19–year–old Bark River woman lost control of her Suzuki Grand Vitara on some ice.

She crossed the center line and hit an eastbound Buick LeSabre head–on.

A 41–year–old woman from Wetmore was driving the Buick.

Everyone in both vehicles had to be taken to Marquette General.

And there’s no word tonight on how they’re doing either.
