Update: M-28 from Munising to Chocolay Township to reopen

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — The main highway connecting Marquette and Alger counties was closed because of severe weather. Officials now say the highway will reopen at 4:30 p.m.

M-28 from Munising to Kawbawgam Road in Chocolay Township was closed to traffic at 10 p.m. Tuesday. The road commissions of both Alger and Marquette counties made that decision along with the Michigan State Police.

The State Police are also reporting whiteout conditions in the east end of Schoolcraft County today. Because of the high winds and extremely cold temperatures, troopers are recommending the use of extreme caution if you have to travel.
