UPDATE: M-28 has been reopened

Officers from the Negaunee Post of the Michigan State Police say that M-28 is once again open.

Police warn that lake-effect snowfall and icy road conditions are still an issue in the area. They encourage motorists to use caution and reduce speed when traveling on icy road surfaces and in areas where reduced visibility is still a factor. Longer commute times and rapidly changing conditions can be expected.

M-28 between Munising and Kawbawgam Road had been closed due to hazardous weather conditions since 9:00 p.m. Sunday. The Alger County Road Commission made the decision to shut down the road with the assistance of the Marquette County Road Commission, MDOT and the Michigan State Police.
