An auction in Negaunee Thursday night will help a new faith–based organization get its start in the Marquette County area.
Love INC stands for ‘Love in the Name of Christ’.
The group is holding a benefit auction at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee tomorrow night.
Love INC mobilizes churches of all denominations to improve their communities.
Christie Salo, a member of Love INC’s development board, says churches will be putting together lists of carpenters, electricians, plumbers, mechanics and others that can volunteer their services for people in need.
The auction begins at 7 pm tomorrow.
More than 60 items have been donated, including a chartered Lake Superior fishing trip.
Salo says the proceeds will be put to use to hire a part-time director for Love INC of the Central U.P.
She says the director should be on board, and the chapter fully operational, by May 1st.
There are nearly 150 chapters of Love INC across the country.
The central U.P. chapter will be the second one in the Upper Peninsula.
The Copper Country already has one, and it’s based in Hancock.
