ISHPEMING — If you were in Ishpeming Tuesday morning, you may have heard something rather loud up in the sky.
It wasn’t a bird, nor a plane, nor was it a superhero — it was a helicopter. Officials at Sawyer International Airport say the U.S. Army helicopter was taking part in some icing testing in conjunction with Korea Aerospace Industries. Tests like these are done to make sure aircraft can be certified for icy conditions.
The choppers often fly in pairs, with one spraying water on another to see how it accumulates.
