Logo Contest for U.P. State Fair

With the new start coming next year for the U.P. State Fair, the people who run it want to give it a new look.

And if you have some design talent, they want to know what you think the new look should look like.

The State Fair Authority board has decided to retire the fair’s moose logo.

But they don’t have a new one yet, and they’re having a contest to come up with a replacement design.

Ideally, the new one would reflect the State Fair’s involvement with agriculture, industry and recreation.

Delta Chamber of Commerce executive director Vickie Micheau says when she asked the Fair Authority board if they’d ever seen a moose on the State Fair midway, everyone on the board said no.

The fair’s new start is under U.P. regional control rather than state control.

The new logo will be part of all of the fair’s promotion and advertising.

And it’ll be more visible in 2010 than the moose was.

Micheau says the Fair Authority will be promoting the fair much more heavily starting next year to try to maintain its existing attendance base in the U.P. while also broadening its reach to other areas in the upper Midwest.

The designs are due December 14th.

To enter, or to get more info, you can contact the Delta Chamber of Commerce in Escanaba.

Whatever logo wins, it’ll become Fair Authority property.

The designer of the winning logo also won’t get any royalties.
