Local theatre announces award nominees

NEGAUNEE — After an outstanding theatre season, the Historic Vista Theatre and PAAC has announced their 2015 award nominees.

The theatre is trying something a little different this year and asking for the publics help in selecting “Show of the Year”.

Historic Vista Theatre Executive Director, Andrew “Bear” Tyler said, “This year is actually the first year we have tabulated the votes for our awards. We thought it was a really good opportunity to use social media to its fullest potential and really interact with our fans. We had over 7,000 people come out to the Vista last year and we have a real opportunity for them to have a voice in what we are recognizing.”

Shows included in the category are 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Beauty and the Beast, Revolutionary Brassiere, and Rocky Horror Show.

“This year the 90th anniversary of operations at the Historic Vista Theatre and we want to make it one of the biggest years we have ever had. Right now I can tell you we are going to do “Oklahoma” in June, but we are just moments away from announcing the biggest schedule we ever had.”

The public’s vote will account for twenty percent of the final vote. Voting is open until January 15th. The theatre will announce a time and location for the awards ceremony as soon as details are finalized.
