Local Teacher & Historian Honored with Wall of Fame

One of the Marquette schools’ most accomplished living alumni is honored by the school system for his lifetime of work.

Fred Rydholm is now one of only 3 people on the Wall of Excellence outside Marquette Senior High School’s gym.

The induction took place this afternoon.

Several students introduced Rydholm before he spoke to the crowd of friends and family.

Rydholm is a World War II veteran who taught and coached in Marquette schools from 1953 to 1982.

He’s also served as a Marquette city commissioner, a 3-term Marquette mayor and a county board member.

In 2002, Rydholm won the NMU Distinguished Citizens Award.

The A. Felch Pendill Wall of Excellence honors Marquette schools alumni who distinguish themselves in a chosen profession and demonstrate service to others in the community.
