ISHPEMING — Officials from a local school district launched a promotional video earlier this month to showcase what their high school has to offer.

NICE Community Schools, with the help of Joker Media Marquette, released a clip featuring Westwood High School students partaking in a variety of academic, athletic and other extracurricular activities.

While the video sought to exhibit the variety of options students can explore, the experience doubled as a learning tool. After a 14 hour day of shooting, the volunteer students got some incredible insight on what it takes to produce a promotional video.

“We really wanted to create a fast paced video that allows people to see what our school looks like, what it has to offer, what our kids do. We felt like we did a pretty good job highlighting a number of different things,” said NICE Community School Superintendent Bryan DeAugustine. “It certainly isn’t everything we have to offer, but its a start. It was framed in mind with coming back to school and seeing all of the exciting things that are about to unfold as the school year begins.”

DeAugustine added that another shoot is scheduled for sometime in late October and will feature the recent renovations to the school’s media center and auditorium.
