Local media outlet holding Christmas drive for vets

MARQUETTE — To say thank you to those who have sacrificed and defended our country, Great Lakes Radio is once again holding their Christmas Is For Veterans Christmas drive.

Great Lake Radio on–air personality, Mike Plourde said,” A lot of times a lot of these men have outlived their families. They have no family, nobody to bring them anything for Christmas. Some of the men have some family but they are very up in age or they might be a long ways away. Again, they don’t have people who can bring them these things. It is just a way for us to put our money where our mouth is so to speak and really do something nice for the veterans for Christmas.”

Jacobetti Home for Veterans have complied a wish list of items that are needed. The gifts will be taken to the home a few days before Christmas for a Holiday Party.

“We want to help make the veterans Christmas a little better. You know we spend a lot of time thanking our veterans, rightly so, for what they have done. This is an opportunity to actually do something to help them out and make them have a much more comfortable Christmas.”

The event is this coming Tuesday at 1:00 pm and it is open to the public. The community is encouraged to come out and help celebrate Christmas with their veterans. For the veterans wish list and donation drop-off locations, head to sunny.fm or wfxd.com
