Local high school hosting mobile food pantry

NEGAUNEE– On Wednesday, some local high school students will be getting yet another chance to feed some hungry mouths in their community.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m., Negaunee High School will be hosting a Mobile Food Pantry. With the pantry, Feed America West Michigan is hoping to hand out 18,000 pounds of food, including fresh fruit and vegetables.

This food is intended to be given out to anyone in need, no proof of income or identification is needed.

The community won’t be the only ones benefiting. “It’s just a great opportunity for our students in our school to,” said Negaunee High School Principle Mark Manara. He said that the school is “proud to be a part of this thing for the past several years and we look forward to continuing to do it.”

This is the fourth Mobile Food Pantry the school has hosted since May of 2015. Officials from Negaunee High School says hosting these pantries are possible because of funding from alumni.
