Local commissioner announces candidacy for state representative

MARQUETTE — A Marquette city commissioner has announced her candidacy to become a state representative.

Marquette’s Sara Cambensy will be running for the 109th House of Representatives seat, which is currently held by John Kivela. Cambensy was elected to the Marquette City Commission in 2012 and will be running as a Democrat. Within her announcement Cambensy stated that education, road repairs, the Dark Store issue, and finding solutions for the hundreds of mining jobs that are set to be lost are among some of her top priorities.
