NEGAUNEE– Rain couldn’t stop some of members of a local organization from touring a garden today.

Members of the Northern Center for Lifelong Learning visited the Carp River Gardens, A member of the organization called the gardens ‘breathtaking’.

The gardens have been in Negaunee for thirty years, yet one of the owners of the garden said gardening is just a hobby of his.

Jim Somers, one of the garden’s owners just called it “a large perennial garden that we do as our backyard hobby kind of thing that got out of control.”

“And each time it’s different, Mike and Jim are constantly enlarging and improving it.” Said Phyllis James, “and even if you come several times in the summer, May through October, you’ll see different flowers.”

The Carp River Gardens are located on Heritage Drive and are available for weddings, parties and other gatherings.
