MARQUETTE — As we get closer and closer to October 4th, work crews and volunteers are continuing their efforts to get Lakeview Arena ready to host that NHL Preseason Game between the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes.

Officials finished up laying down the new ice surface today. Volunteers have spent time, painting most of the arena, cleaning off seats, installing new lights and doing else they’re asked to do.

For one volunteer, it’s all about giving back to a place where her kids spend a lot of time.

“I have three boys that play hockey here and it’s kind of a love of theirs, so we want to make sure that they have the best place to play hockey in,” said Kristen Cambensy, a volunteer at Lakeview Arena.

For winning the Kraft Hockeyville contest, Lakeview Arena also received a check for one hundred fifty thousand dollars.
