Live Shooter Training in Ontonagon

It wasn’t an emergency, but a training exercise, that brought out law enforcement to the Ontonagon County Courthouse last night.

The officers were participating in Quick Action Deployment training, or QUAD training for short.

The exercise allows police to practice tactics in responding to an active shooter incident.

This is becoming a nationwide law enforcement issue.

The training had several real-life scenarios with an active shooter, hostages and injured civilians.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department, the Michigan State Police, the U.S. Forest Service, the Michigan DNR, local ambulance personnel and courthouse staff employees participated in the training.

Another QUAD training exercise is planned for the spring.
