Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly gets Christmas gifts ready

HANCOCK — This week, Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly are getting ready for next week’s holiday dinners and are also wrapping up the gifts they will be sending out just in time for Christmas.

With the help of local churches and donors, Little Brothers was able to collect all different kinds of gifts that are personalized for each person that will receive them.

Special dinners are also going on Christmas Day, as well as deliveries for those who can’t make it. Organizers want to share the feeling of the season with area seniors.

“For some of the people that we’ll see, this will be their only Christmas gift so it’s bringing Christmas back to some people who might not otherwise have gifts under their tree and just to bring back some of the Christmas traditions and spirit of Christmas to people,” Mikkola said.

Here’s where the Christmas dinners will be held:

Hancock – Church of the Resurrection
Calumet – Sacred Heart Church
Houghton – St. Ignatius Church
Tapiola – Doelle Senior Center
South Range – Grace Lutheran Church
Copper City – Copper City Community Building
Ontonagon – Holy Family Church
Baraga – St. Ann’s Church
Marquette – St. Christopher’s Catholic Church
