Lions sign former QB Orlovsky

The Lions have reportedly signed free agent quarterback Dan Orlovsky to a one-year contract, this according to Tim Twentyman.  He will backup Matthew Stafford in 2014.

Detroit selected Orlovsky in the fifth-round in the 2005 NFL Draft. The Detroit Lions went 0-16 in 2008. Orlovsky made seven starts at quarterback that season.

Since leaving Detroit, Orlovsky played for the Houston Texans, the Indianapolis Colts and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Orlovsky played for Lions head coach Jim Caldwell in 2011. The Colts finished 2-14 that season.

Orlovsky replaces former Lions backup quarterback Shaun Hill, who signed with the St. Louis Rams earlier this month.
