Lions release CB Berry

The Detroit Lions have cut cornerback Aaron Berry, according to a press release the team released this morning.

Lions President Tom Lewand said this in the released statement: “We have repeatedly stressed to everyone in our organization that there will be appropriate consequences when an expected standard of behavior is not upheld.”

The 24-year old Berry was arrested twice within the last 30 days on charges of driving under the influence (June 23), as well as three counts of simple assault for allegedly brandishing a firearm this past weekend.

Berry’s arrest makes this the 7th arrest of a Detroit Lions player this off-season. He was expected to be one of two starting cornerbacks on the Lions defense. The Lions signed Berry as an undrafted free agent (University of Pittsburgh) back in 2010.
