Hancock, MI – Finlandia University head football coach Tim Driscoll has hired Gwinn, Michigan native Dan Mettlach as Finlandia’s offensive coordinator. Mettlach will begin his duties immediately.

Mettlach has been coaching collegiate football since 2007, including 3 seasons (2007-2010) at Northern Michigan University. In 2011, Mettlach served as quarterbacks coach at Hillsdale College, helping the Chargers finish as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) champions. Most recently Mettlach served as the special teams coordinator / passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

“I am excited about joining Coach Driscoll and Finlandia University and look forward to helping build a successful football program,” said Mettlach.

Mettlach received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Michigan Tech in 2005. While at MTU, Dan lead the Huskies as quarterback and team captain to the 2004 GLIAC championship, while earning individual accolades as GLIAC First Team All-Conference; 2004 GLIAC Player of the Year; and 2004 Daktronics HM All-American honors. After his collegiate career, Dan competed professionally in 2006 for the Evansville Bluecats of the United Indoor Football League. He then continued his education (while coaching) through Eastern Michigan University, where he received his Master of Science degree in Sports Management.

“Dan is a great addition to our staff,” said Coach Driscoll. “He is a knowledgeable, energetic coach with great ties to the Upper Peninsula. As we start our program, he is a perfect fit as our offensive coordinator.”
