MARQUETTE — Once again, the Peter White Public Library gave community members an opportunity to meet their director. But it was the last time that library visitors will see the current director at the table for the event.

After being the director for Peter White for twenty four years, Pam Christensen has decided to take on another position. The new employer will allow her to continue to do what she loves, but while covering a larger number of libraries.

“On December 14th I will take over as director for the Superiorland Library Cooperative, that’s also located here in Marquette,” said Peter White Public Library Director Pam Christensen, “and it gives me a chance to use some of my skills to help other libraries throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the northern part of the Lower Peninsula.”

Although Christensen will miss her position at the library, she’s excited for what the future holds.

“I’m looking forward to being able to use the library as a patron,” Christensen added, “not as the person that has to make sure that everything is operating smoothly. It’s a nice change, I think it’s a good time for me to change. I think it’s a good time to let some of the newer staff members take over and let them implement some of the ideas that they have and how they can transform the library into an institution that even better serves the community.”

Upcoming events at the library include the Winter Wonderland Walk Open House. The event takes place this Saturday from 3-5.
