Legwand leaves Red Wings for Senators

The Detroit Red Wings have lost forward David Legwand on the free agent market. Legwand signed a two-year deal with the Ottawa Senators earlier today, according to various reports.

According to former Detroit Red Wings defenseman Aaron Ward, who now works for TSN, says the deal is worth $6 million.

The Red Wings acquired Legwand back on March 5 from the Nashville Predators for forward Patrick Eves, a prospect, and a draft pick. Legwand will fill the void at center in Ottawa that was left by Jason Spezza, who was recently traded to Dallas.
