Last-Minute Shopping Business

The last-minute holiday shopping push is in full swing, but stores in one Marquette County mall have noticed steady sales all season long.

Both corporate and locally-owned stores in the Westwood Mall have noticed something different about this holiday season.

Jandrons II manager Tia Arntsen and Younkers manager Debbie Hatcher say the numbers of shoppers coming in and out of stores is higher than previous years, and sales are up.

And although the economy may not be in better shape than last year, Hatcher says the weather may be helping retailers — a lack of snow means it’s easier to get out of the house than usual.

For all you last-minute shoppers, don’t worry — stores throughout the mall are open late tonight and will be open for most of the on Christmas Eve.
