Last Founders Landing Parcel Plans

The Marquette City Commission talks about the future of the 4-acre northernmost part of Founders Landing.

Both of the developers interested in the land were at City Hall this morning, and they both hope for a hotel on the property.

The hotel idea brought up concerns for a property owner that the hotel may take away from other businesses.

But City Manager Judy Akkala says the commissioners have decided it’s not their role to insist on what’s actually there after the land is developed.

Initially, $7.2 million was proposed for public improvement.

But now the commission is opposed to any public money being used for the northern parcel.

There were talks of adding a marina down the road.

The proposal to sell the land for $1.5 million will be on the City Commission agenda at the end of the month.
