A home in Little Lake in Forsyth Township caught fire early Saturday morning on Sporley Lake Road and North Wilson Lake Road. Eye-witnesses reported seeing heavy black smoke in the area. Forsyth Township Fire Department and other agencies responded to the scene.

All members of the household escaped the fire, but the home was a total loss. It is insured. Hugo, the family’s beloved pet dog perished in the fire.

In a statement made on a ‘Go Fund Me’ fundraising campaign to help benefit the Vigil family, Alison Vigil Pizzi, daughter of the homeowners said, “The past few days have been heart wrenching as we sift through what is left of 20+ years of memories.” Alison says not much has been found in the rubble, other pictures, documents, and  her mother’s antiques.

“My parents lost everything but what they had on their back,” said Pizzi.

The American Red Cross and Pig-N-Heat Fire Relief Fund have put the Vigils up in a motel for six days.

Alison Vigil Pizzi opened a “Go Fund Me” fundraiser  on Monday to help support her parents in this time of need.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. ABC 10 / CW 5 will have more on this story as it develops.
