L’Anse native lands NCAA Division I women’s head coach job

L’Anse native and former NMU basketball player Kurt Godlevske has now become a women’s Division I college basketball head coach.

He’s the new head coach at Butler. Godlevske has coached at his alma mater, L’Anse, as well as at Lake Superior State University.

He joined the Butler program as an assistant coach last year after winning an Indiana state championship at the high school level. Godlevske was named the Bulldogs’ interim head coach in late April when the team’s previous head coach was fired, and the university has already removed the ‘interim’ tag from his job title.

This fall, the NMU women will begin their season with a game against Butler.
