Sunday night, at approximately 7:35 p.m., a motorcycle collided with a passenger car on US 41 at the intersection of L’Anse Avenue in the Village of L’Anse.

The motorcycle was driven by a 59-year-old man from Florence, Wisconsin who was traveling west on US 41 when he struck a passenger car turning north onto L’Anse Avenue. The car was driven by a 17-year-old Baraga woman who was transported to Baraga County Memorial Hospital along with her fellow passengers and the driver of the motorcycle. Everyone in the car was treated and released, but the rider needed further attention and was later transported to Marquette General Hospital for treatment.

Michigan State Troopers from the Calumet Post initially responded to the crash and were assisted on the scene by the Baraga County Sheriff’s Department, the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police, the L’Anse Fire Department and First Responders, the Dynatmite Towning Company, and the Michigan State Police Advanced Accident Investigators.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
