L’Anse Child Abuse Trial Begins

The L’Anse man accused of nearly killing his ex–girlfriend’s infant daughter is now on trial.

27–year–old James Cribbs II is accused of first–degree child abuse.

His trial started today and is expected to wrap up tomorrow.

Cribbs was alone with the then-17–month-old girl in September 2009 when she allegedly fell and hit her head.

She suffered a serious brain injury that left her partially paralyzed.

Doctors have said they think the girl may have been shaken.

If Cribbs is convicted, he could receive up to 15 years in prison.
